Morning Walk on Wurtulla Beach

Wurtulla Beach, Queensland, Australia.

Today's adventure was a walk to Queensland's Wurtulla Beach. This magnificent scene is a five-minute car ride away, but I have no car at the moment, so I walked. I consider this extra exercise a perk of moving to another hemisphere.

Wurtulla Beach is part of the Coral Sea's Eastern boundary. The Aboriginal word 'wurtulla' means southward. Considering I recently moved to the Southern hemisphere, it seems appropriate that I arbitrarily picked a beach that's name means "southward". There was another bright spot in today's adventure. At the Wurtulla Beach access point, there is a park named Dorothy Anderson Park. I smiled at the universe's reminder...I am not in Kansas anymore.

Though I didn't care for geography in school, I loved learning about different cultures. Now, I enjoy learning about both the regional culture and local geography as it helps me acclimate to my new surroundings. Gaining knowledge provides context and with context, new worldviews emerge.

Until Next Time,

Dana

Well, to be honest, I think all of the beautiful parts are on the coast. Never been to the west coast though. Once you get into the Outback, there is a certain sssaaammmmeeennneesssss to it. Uluru is a big mountain that just kind of arises out of the middle of nowhere...... Definitely spend some significant time in Sydney---gorgeous. I actually have a few friends there, in case you need to be bailed out or anything........😛

We have recently moved near the Sunshine Coast, north of Brisbane. Your adventures in Australia sound amazing. We plan to travel. Recommendations are welcome!

Dana, I haven't kept up----where exactly are you living? My daughter and I spent some time in Australia (and New Zealand) in 2016. We spent most of our time in Brisbane at a conference, but also traveled around to Sydney, Darwin, Alice Springs, Uluru, and a number of places in New Zealand too. We really enjoyed our time there! It is much like it is here, and yet unique in lots of ways too. What an opportunity for you to be able to immerse yourself in the Australian culture! Such a gorgeous place!! ---Gail
